Description

AANN is seeking volunteers to create a list of skills and priorities for each neuroscience nursing specialty (consistent with the Special Focus Groups). One such example would be ICP monitoring for the Trauma specialty. The list will serve as a guide for main competencies that each specialty requires. Each specialty topic will need 1-2 volunteers, preferably an APN and a bedside nurse.

Qualifications

  • Current AANN member
  • Currently practicing RN or APRN with a minimum of 2-3 years of neuroscience experience

Responsibility

  • Collaborate with another volunteer to develop a list of 5-10 top competencies, skills, or priorities for your specialty
  • Identify which, if any, of those skills are advanced practice skills
  • Communicate with task force lead for any clarification or additional list items

Time commitment

5-10 hours over a one-month period

Application

Please submit the following:

  • A short statement (1-2 paragraphs) of interest that specifies your areas of practice and special expertise as well as the reasons you would like to be considered for the volunteer opportunity.
  • A current condensed curriculum vitae that includes only (1) your credentials, current employer and title, and your contact information, (2) the professional organizations in which you hold membership, (3) the number of years you have worked in your neuroscience nursing specialty

Applications should be submitted through the NeuroNetwork. If you have any questions, please contact Rita Wirth at rwirth@aann.org.
