SUDEP Research & Prevention Committee (RaPC)

The SUDEP Research and Prevention Committee is charged with championing the priorities and recommendations of the 2020 SUDEP Summit, a community wide effort that established a framework for action to accelerate progress around SUDEP research and prevention.  Areas of focus include basic science, clinical action, behavior and awareness, and public health/epidemiology.
 
Specific charges of the Committee include:

  • Disseminate taskforce priorities and recommendations
  • Identify and encourage opportunities for project implementation by members of the larger community
  • Promote learning and exchange of ideas within and across disciplines
  • Advise on SUDEP related projects as needed
  • Maintain momentum in the field of SUDEP research and prevention by continuing to champion priorities in various forums and monitor and communicate progress

Membership

The committee is multi-stakeholder in nature and made up of interested people who either: participated in the SUDEP Summit, have relevant expertise or lived experience to bring to the effort.  The committee is populated through appointments by the co-chairs. Terms for members are 2 years and are renewable.  

Leadership

Leadership consists of 2-3 co-chairs representing different stakeholders and terms are for 3 years.  Co-chairs work with PAME project team to find their replacement.

Meetings

The Committee meets at least 4 times per year and meeting agendas are set by the co-chairs. 

Resources & staffing

PAME’s project management team assists with meeting planning, meeting notes, and coordination of follow-up work between meetings. 

All interested candidates need to submit a completed application to jmaginot@connect2amc.com by Thursday, April 10, 2025. It is the responsibility of the candidate to fully complete the application. Completed applications will then be shared with the Partners Against Mortality in Epilepsy (PAME) group for consideration and selection.
