SUDEP Research & Prevention Committee (RaPC)
The SUDEP Research and Prevention Committee is charged with championing the priorities and recommendations of the 2020 SUDEP Summit, a community wide effort that established a framework for action to accelerate progress around SUDEP research and prevention. Areas of focus include basic science, clinical action, behavior and awareness, and public health/epidemiology.
Specific charges of the Committee include:
- Disseminate taskforce priorities and recommendations
- Identify and encourage opportunities for project implementation by members of the larger community
- Promote learning and exchange of ideas within and across disciplines
- Advise on SUDEP related projects as needed
- Maintain momentum in the field of SUDEP research and prevention by continuing to champion priorities in various forums and monitor and communicate progress
Membership
The committee is multi-stakeholder in nature and made up of interested people who either: participated in the SUDEP Summit, have relevant expertise or lived experience to bring to the effort. The committee is populated through appointments by the co-chairs. Terms for members are 2 years and are renewable.
Leadership
Leadership consists of 2-3 co-chairs representing different stakeholders and terms are for 3 years. Co-chairs work with PAME project team to find their replacement.
Meetings
The Committee meets at least 4 times per year and meeting agendas are set by the co-chairs.
Resources & staffing
PAME’s project management team assists with meeting planning, meeting notes, and coordination of follow-up work between meetings.

Completed applications will then be shared with the Partners Against Mortality in Epilepsy (PAME) group for consideration and selection.
