AANN is seeking a volunteer to be the International Liaison Mentee. The AANN International Liaison connects AANN globally to international neuroscience nurses and organizations. The International Liaison and mentee will work together over the year on the responsibilities listed below. The mentee will then transition into the role of International Liaison and serve a full 4-year term.

Qualifications

  • Member of AANN and CNRN (preferred)
  • Demonstrates an interest in and a passion for international neuroscience nursing
  • Culturally sensitive
  • Willing to travel internationally
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Member Responsibilities

  • Attend WFNN board meetings, prepared to participate in the discussion and decision-making process.
  • Attends the AANN Annual meeting to share information related to WFNN with AANN members, including promotion of quadrennial meeting, WFNN membership, and staffing of the WFNN exhibit table. AANN to cover travel and registration costs.
  • Attends the Quadrennial Congress of the World Federation Neuroscience Nurses and one other international neuroscience nursing meeting approved by AANN BOD. AANN to cover travel and registration costs.
  • Participate in volunteer projects identified by AANN and/or WFNN that impact neuroscience nursing at a global level.
  • Assists in identifying and recommending opportunities for collaboration.
  • Increase AANN’s global visibility.
  • Communicate AANN strategic activities to international neuroscience nursing organizations and communicates international neuroscience nursing organizations’ strategic/project activities to AANN board and membership.
  • Submit a yearly board report related to all International Liaison activities to the President and Board of AANN.
  • Answers AANN International Liaison related correspondence in a timely fashion.
  • Keeps appraised of current major global nursing and healthcare issues, especially related to neuroscience nursing and is prepared to address them when asked.
  • Demonstrates professional and ethical behavior.

Time Commitment

  • Conference calls as determined
  • Attend the AANN Annual Meeting
  • Attend the WFNN meeting held every 4 years (2017, 2021, etc.) – 4-day conference
  • Attendance at a second international neuroscience nursing meeting

  • A current condensed curriculum vitae that includes only (1) your credentials, current employer and title, and your contact information, (2) the professional organizations in which you hold membership, (3) the number of years you have worked in neuroscience nursing, (4) professional volunteer activities, and (5) a list of publications or conference presentations from the last 5 years if applicable.
