AANN is seeking members to serve as contributors for the fourth edition of its Neuroscience Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice. Volunteers will work under the guidance of the Lead and Mentee Editors to revise and update chapters of this important resource.
Responsibilities
Contributors will revise and update sections of material from the third edition with guidance from the editors on specific content changes. Working collaboratively with the editors, contributors will update the references to reflect the most current research findings and best practices, add new material where needed, and revise the text in response to reviews from the task force and editors. The work will entail participation primarily in e-mail conversations; editors may also hold periodic conference calls with contributors.
Qualifications
Preferred candidates will be AANN members with previous writing experience and will possess these qualifications:
- Seeking candidates at both the bachelor’s and graduate level
- At least 2 years of experience in neuroscience nursing
- The ability to write and communicate clearly
- The ability to meet deadlines
- A passion to advance the science and practice of neuroscience nursing
- Mentee applicants are welcome to apply (those with limited or no publishing experience)
Term of the Commitment
The group will begin its work in January 2023. The estimated length of the commitment is 12 -18 months using this projected timeline:

- A short statement (1-2 paragraphs) of interest that specifies your areas of interest and special expertise as well as the reasons you would like to be considered.
- A current condensed curriculum vitae that includes only (1) your credentials, current employer and title, and your contact information, (2) the professional organizations in which you hold membership, (3) the number of years you have worked in neuroscience nursing, (4) a bibliography of articles, book chapters, and books you have published in the past 10 years, and (5) the titles and dates of no more than 5 lectures or presentations you have given (if you have given more than 5 presentations, select the top 5 in the field of neuroscience).
