The American Association of Neuroscience Nurses (AANN) is seeking a Social Media Editor with social media experience and a scholarly publication record for the Journal of Neuroscience Nursing (JNN). The JNN is the official bimonthly, peer-reviewed journal for the AANN. The JNN has an impact factor of 1.5 and publishes content which focuses on clinically applicable evidence-based research. The Journal is accessible online and indexed in internationally renowned databases. This stipend-provided position involves working closely with the Editor-In-Chief (EIC), Associate Editor, and Editorial Board to assist with the supervision of workflow and manuscript reviews while contributing to the mission and vision of JNN.

The JNN promotes excellence, innovation, and leadership in patient care outcomes through the dissemination of evidence-based neuroscience nursing knowledge.

The JNN delivers the latest evidence in neuroscience practice and research.

Qualifications:

  • Affinity for technology
  • Adept at multiple social media platforms, including Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube
  • Understanding of hashtags and tagging
  • Familiarity with Canva and HootSuite
  • Experienced clinician in neuroscience nursing, Registered Nurse (RN) preferred
  • A documented record of research and scholarship which includes publication in a peer-reviewed nursing journal, previous publication in JNN preferred
  • Organizational and communication skills

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with editorial board to identify featured articles
  • Collaborate and meet with JNN Editor on a monthly basis (virtual)   
  • Manage editorial flow, and develop and publish very frequent updates to the various social media platforms, which will include content like videos, virtual abstracts, etc.
  • Create or solicit the creation of videos to promote JNN articles
  • Create social media images on Canva
  • Promote special articles like open access articles, free CE articles, etc.
  • Encourage submissions of Letters to the Editor
  • Participate on the JNN Editorial Board
    • Attend quarterly EB meetings and provide a social media update

Details:

  • $2,500/year stipend
  • 2-5 hours per week anticipated time commitment
  • 1-year term (March 1, 2025-February 28, 2026) with the option to extend pending evaluation.
