AANN is seeking volunteers for the Clinical Science Committee. The aim of the AANN Clinical Science Committee (CSC) is to provide information and structure surrounding evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and research to educate and inform stakeholders about neuroscience nursing clinical science and professional practice. CSC members serve as a working group to establish goals, direction, and policy recommendations for AANN’s role in neuroscience nursing clinical science.

Qualifications:

  • Current AANN member
  • History of volunteerism with AANN
  • Minimum academic preparation: Bachelor of Science in Nursing  
  • Experience in scientific inquiry/research, quality improvement initiatives, or evidence-based projects.
  • Adept at using various communication and documentation technologies
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others

Responsibilities & duties:

  • Participate in all CSC meetings. 
  • Assist in the development of annual reports and recommendations to the AANN Board of Directors.
  • Maintain open communications.
  • Guide and mentor CSC development and work groups to maintain integrity and continuity throughout AANN’s development and role in neuroscience nursing clinical science.
  • Serve as a lead and/or member on CSC work groups.
  • Keeps apprised of major health care and neuroscience nursing trends to assure AANN’s reflection of state-of-the-science.

Time commitment

CSC members are appointed by the AANN President-elect for a term of at least 2 years. CSC members participate in bi-monthly committee conference calls and email communication and conference calls for work groups.

  • A short statement (1-2 paragraphs) of interest that specifies your areas of interest and special expertise as well as the reasons you would like to be considered for the volunteer opportunity.
  • A current condensed curriculum vitae that includes only (1) your credentials, current employer and title, and your contact information, (2) the professional organizations in which you hold membership, (3) the number of years you have worked in neuroscience nursing, (4) a bibliography of articles, book chapters, and books you have published in the past 10 years, and (5) the titles and dates of no more than 5 lectures or presentations you have given (if you have given more than 5 presentations, select the top 5 in the field of neuroscience).
