AANN is seeking volunteers for the Advocacy, Diversity & Inclusion Committee. The AANN Advocacy, Diversity & Inclusion Committee examines policy statements on specific issues, educates or lobbies (i.e. making direct appeals to) policymakers on specific issues or proposals, and endorses or comments on legislative or regulatory proposals or guideline statements. The AANN advocacy program explores avenues to encourage members to comment on policy proposals and to track legislation and votes.
Qualifications:
- AANN member
- At least 2 years of experience in neuroscience nursing
- Knowledge in the issues that will be addressed: Stroke, Brain Injury, Neurosurgery, Nursing Work force, Spine, Neurotrauma, Movement Disorders, Neuro-oncology, Epilepsy, Geriatrics, Pediatrics, Neuromuscular
- Commitment to affect public policy for neuroscience nursing
- The ability to meet deadlines
- Can commit to the time required
Member Responsibilities:
- Review and evaluate requests for endorsement and support
- Attend committee meetings and calls
- Review meeting minutes
- Participate in projects and initiatives as determined and assigned by the current Chair
Time Commitment
2-year term appointed by the AANN President-elect. 5-10 hours per month, 4-6 conference calls throughout the year. Special calls and meetings may be scheduled as needed.
